The 1975 Essentials

The 1975 Essentials

Emerging in 2013 with a self-titled debut decked out in irresistible singles, high-gloss rock and slithery synth-rock, Cheshire's The 1975 quickly built a rabid following. Sat just below the earworm choruses, however, was a lyrical dexterity and curiosity for ambient weirdness that set them apart. 2015's wonderful second album (I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it) somehow doubled down on the hits and eccentricities to confirm the band's place at UK music's top table.
