About The Stone Roses

The Stone Roses emerged from the UK Madchester scene to become one of the most influential and critically acclaimed British rock bands of the 1990s. ∙ The band played their first concert as The Stone Roses in 1984, opening in London for Pete Townshend, who invited them to play after frontman Ian Brown sent him a demo tape. ∙ Their quadruple-Platinum self-titled 1989 debut LP has been named by Rolling Stone and NME as one of the greatest albums of all time and a key influence on ’90s rock. ∙ Many of their best-known songs—including Gold-certified ’89 singles “I Wanna Be Adored,” “She Bangs the Drum,” and “Made of Stone”—became global hits after being reissued in the early ’90s. ∙ Second Coming—the band’s second and final album—arrived in 1994 and produced their highest charting hit with the UK No. 2 single “Love Spreads.” ∙ After breaking up in 1997, The Stone Roses reunited in 2011 and released the singles “All for One” and “Beautiful Thing” in 2016 before disbanding once again a year later.
