About The Alan Parsons Project

Led by Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson, The Alan Parsons Project was a British progressive rock band that featured a revolving cast of acclaimed session musicians in the ’70s and ’80s. ∙ Before forming the group, Parsons worked as a recording engineer and producer on The Beatles’ Abbey Road and Let It Be and Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon. ∙ The Project’s 1976 debut, Tales of Mystery and Imagination, featured “The Raven,” which is noted as the first use of a digital vocoder in a rock song. ∙ Eye in the Sky, their Platinum-certified 1982 album, featured the Top 10 title track as well as the instrumental “Sirius,” a popular soundtrack for college and professional sports teams. ∙ Kendrick Lamar sampled the group’s 1982 track “Old and Wise” on “Keisha’s Song (Her Pain),” from his 2011 debut album, Section.80. ∙ The ’80s were their most successful era, with the band landing on the Billboard Rock charts 11 times.
