About Luka

Luke Kuplowsky is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who releases solo material under the mononym LUKA. He first made a name for himself on the music scene in his hometown of Toronto as co-founder of the indie rock band Broken Bricks with another multi-instrumentalist, Marlon Chaplin. They released their debut LP Pasquale in 2009. With drummer Matthew Duncan joining the lineup, the sophomore Broken Bricks album Little Fugitives followed in 2011. A couple of singles from the band appeared in 2012 before Kuplowsky focused on preparing an album of sparer, more intimate solo material. Sporting the moniker LUKA, Calling All Black Cats was released by Fat Fat Sounds in 2013. Recalling names like Kevin Morby and Mac DeMarco, a second album of subtly sardonic singer/songwriter fare, Summon Up a Monkey King, arrived in 2016, this time on Yellow K Records. ~ Marcy Donelson
