Los Amables Del Norte

About Los Amables Del Norte

Accordion player and lead vocalist Ignacio "Nacho" Hernández was nearly killed when his car slammed into a pole in the early '90s. After spending 17 days in a hospital, including 12 days in a coma, Hernández re-evaluated his life and career choice. Shortly after his release, he recruited bassist Chayo Velenzuela, bajo-sexto player Alfredo, and drummer Larry Hernandez, and formed Los Amables del Norte. Under Hernández's direction, the group soon became known for their romantic approach to norteño music. After releasing four impressive albums, Con La Fuerza Sinaloense, Tambien Las Mujeres Pueden, Rancheras Y Corridos, and Chalino Sanchez With Los Amables Del Norte on small regional labels, the group signed with influential Latin music label Sabinas Discos in 1998. ~ Craig Harris
