About Far East Movement

With their 2010 single “Like a G6”, hip-hop and EDM group Far East Movement (or FM) became the first Asian-American group to top the Billboard Hot 100. • High school friends Kev Nish, Prohgress, and J-Splif founded Far East Movement (originally Emcees Anonymous) in 2001. • “Round Round”, a single from their 2006 debut album Folk Music, appeared on the soundtrack of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. • After recruiting Power 106’s DJ Virman to join the group, FM issued Animal in 2009. The album’s lead single, “Girls on the Dance Floor”, hit No. 27 on the US Latin Rhythm Airplay chart. • In 2010, FM delivered their career-defining album, Free Wired, the group’s first major label release. Its multi-platinum party anthem “Like a G6” went No. 1 in the US and New Zealand. • FM cracked the Billboard 200 with their 2012 album Dirty Bass, which included collaborations with the likes of Justin Bieber, Cassie and Pitbull. They performed the single “For All” at President Barack Obama’s 2013 Inaugural Ball. • Following J-Splif’s departure from the group, FM released Identity through their independent label Transparent Agency. The 2016 Asian-American fusion album hit No. 7 on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
