F.O.D.

About F.O.D.

F.O.D. (Friends of Darkness) are a German synth pop trio whose sound is influenced by electronic body music (EBM) and Neue Deutsche Welle, as well as contemporary electronic dance music. Their brand of trancey, club-friendly futurepop was first heard during the early 2000s on releases like Crucified, and the band continued making waves with subsequent outings like 2010's Maschinentanz. Hailing from Saxony, the trio is comprised of Daniel (aka eXcess D; vocals, keyboard, programming, composition, arrangement), Andreas (aka An/dress; keyboards, programming, lyrics, composition, arrangement), and André (aka Andre van den Gerk; keyboards, special effects, presentation). F.O.D. made their recording debut in 2002 with a pair of singles (Krissi, Over Now/X-Celerate) followed by the full-length albums Crucified (2003) and Made in Germany (2005). The trio subsequently signed a recording contract with the label Fear Section and proceeded to release Synthesizer Tanzmusik (2008), which featured former Blutengel singer Eva Pölzing on several songs. Maschinentanz, their second album for Fear Section, appeared in 2010. F.O.D. remixed songs by fellow electro-pop acts like Twisted Destiny and LastraX during the 2010s, but resurfaced in 2021 with Leipzig-based producer Don BNNR's remix of the track "Synthesizer Tanzmusik." ~ Jason Birchmeier
