Indonesian Idol winner Lyodra reveals a striking maturity on a debut LP released while still in her teens. Created during the pandemic, the eponymous record is the canvas on which she explores the restless emotions of the times. Aching pop ballads are joined by dance and R&B numbers—as well as influences from her Karo heritage. “There are also some songs where I have a chance to use some of my vocal techniques such as whistle, belting, husky and riff and runs technique,” notes the singer. That versatile voice is powerful tool wielded by a genuinely moving storyteller.
