About Jetstream Pony

Jetstream Pony's hazy noise pop is guided by the airy reflections of lead vocalist Beth Arzy, formerly of groups including Aberdeen and stylistic cousin the Luxembourg Signal. Following acclaim for a series of short-form releases, the band released its eponymous full-length debut in 2020. Following time spent in several indie pop groups of note dating back to the '90s, including Aberdeen and Trembling Blue Stars, California native Beth Arzy formed Jetstream Pony as a resident of England with guitarist Shaun Charman (the Wedding Present, Popguns). They knew each other from their band the Fireworks. Naming the project after a retired racing greyhound, the duo recorded Jetstream Pony's first songs, "Like You Less" and "Had Enough," on an iPad. Those demos were released as a 7" on German label Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten, making fans of several indie music blogs in addition to earning radio play on BBC 6 Music. They added Charman's one-time Turbocat bandmate Kerry Boettcher on bass, and further accolades followed their release of 2018's bouncy Self-Destruct Reality EP. Also issued on Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten, it featured drummer Sarah Boyle. With Charman taking over on drums, Jetstream Pony released another vinyl 7", "I Close My Eyes"/"It'll Take More Than a Friday," in late 2019 before touring with the Wedding Present and adding drummer Hannes Müller to the official lineup. The quartet established a consistently lusher, dreamier sound on their debut album, Jetstream Pony. It was delivered in May of 2020 by Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten in Germany and Shelflife Records in the U.S. ~ Marcy Donelson
