Brand Nubian Essentials

Hailing from New Rochelle, Brand Nubian stepped into the '90s with a politically-charged agenda. Putting their faith in the teachings of the 5% Nation of Islam, Grand Puba, Sadat X, Lord Jamar and DJ Alamo released a classic with One for All—a debut project that spawned the Edie Brickell & New Bohemians-sampling anti-crack message "Slow Down”. With Puba embarking on a solo career (and Alamo following him), 1993's In God We Trust headed in a darker direction and was spearheaded by the controversial "Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down”. Stay schooled on their teachings here.
