Trumpeter and fluglehornist Art Farmer came up in the heyday of bebop, quickly settling into the grooves of bandleaders like Quincy Jones (“Pogo Stick”) and Benny Golson (“Something In B Flat”). His classy, expansive style made medium-sized groups sound bigger than they were, as heard with the Hank Mobley Quintet (“Funk In Deep Freeze”) and George Russell's “Smalltet” (“Ezz-Thetic”).
