Amr Diab: The '00s

Having already mixed rock hooks and electronic grooves into his North African pop arsenal, Egypt's Amr Diab greeted the new century with increasing forays into internationalism. While dashes of accordion and splashes of tango added Euro flavour, Diab also wove hip-hop attitude and the tropical rhythms of salsa and reggae into his sound, crafting an irresistible east-meets-west pop hybrid.
