About Sykamore

Sykamore’s bright and burnished sound marries rootsy traditions with sweet pop melodies. Born Jordan Ostrom in the tiny hamlet of Carseland, Alberta, the songwriter came by her down-home ways honestly, growing up on a ranch surrounded by the songs of timeless ‘90s country artists like Alan Jackson and The Chicks. Those influences are easy to hear on her 2017 debut EP, Self + Medicine, where she showed her romantic side on the nostalgic love song “We Were Alright” and the rousing “Better Half”, both infused with plenty of earthy country instrumentation. In 2020, she leaned a little more toward the pop side of things on the aptly titled California King, embracing a sun-drenched vibe on the uplifting “Record High” and the Laurel Canyon-indebted title track. She expanded her sonic palette in 2021 with a healthy dose of ‘80s ambience on “Cheap Thrills”, and the stylish, Fleetwood Mac-indebted heartbreaker “Go Easy On Me”.
