Per Nielsen

Danish trumpeter Per Nielsen is a jazz instrumentalist who has sold hundreds of thousands of albums over the course of his solo recording career, which spans numerous decades and includes a deep catalog of full-length releases, most of which were Top 20 chart hits. Born on June 1, 1954, in Sønderborg, Syddanmark, Denmark, he began his solo recording career in 1987 with Trumpet Concertos, followed by Music for Trumpet and Organ in 1989. During the 1990s he released six albums, the most successful of which were the gold-selling Trumpet Serenade (1996) and Trumpet Emotions (1998). Nielsen's popularity peaked around the turn of the century with the platinum-selling albums My Greatest Moments (2000), My Way (2001), and Christmas Time (2002). Throughout the remainder of the decade he continued releasing a new album every couple years, among them the Top 20 hits With Friends (2005), Amazing Grace (2007), and Danske Toner (2009). ~ Jason Birchmeier
