About Momina Mustehsan
The cascading trills of Momina Mustehsan’s emotive lilt have charmed hearts in Pakistan and beyond. But it’s the message her voice carries that really keeps her so firmly connected to her fans. • She came to national fame in 2016 after performing with the legendary qawwali musician Rahat Fateh Ali Khan on Coke Studio Pakistan—one of the country’s most prestigious and popular live music shows—for a rendition of “Afreen Afreen”. • Known for stealing the show in romantic duets with the likes of Arjun Kanungo and Bilal Saeed, Mustehsan takes centre stage in the yearning “Yaariyan”—a startling, intimate display of her vocal prowess. • Mustehsan uses her platform to highlight social issues close to her heart, from women’s rights and equality (particularly within Pakistan) to online bullying. She has employed her vast social network reach to promote the hashtag #depressionisreal and speaks candidly about her own experiences with depression to help normalise mental health issues. • In 2017 Mustehsan was included in the BBC’s list of the 100 most influential women, and a year later featured among Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Asia. • After an athletic upbringing, the artist has kept a close connection to the world of sport and is the Empowerment Champion for Islamabad United cricket team.
