In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. At age 16 I got a chance to travel to Johannesburg and perform alongside Zakwe and the late PRO at the Soweto Music Festival. It was an incredible experience and lesson in music sales as we had to sell mixtapes to afford to buy food. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? 21 Savage, Metro Boomin, SAVAGE MODE II Lupe Fiasco, Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor Migos, Culture This album perfectly conveyed what I enjoy about making music: using multiple influences to create a piece of work that is held together by the artist's self-expression and speaks to telling an authentic story in a clever way. Mac 11, Jazzy June & Zinhle Madela)” I really like this song because I set out to make something that would make me feel nostalgic about the authentic sound of Durban Hip Hop and Motswako, which I grew up listening to. I made the type of music I will enjoy listening to for years to come What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I won a music DJ competition, and the prize was traveling to Kenya. Once there, I got the opportunity to DJ for a small house party, which led me to DJ at a big event. I worked with local acts and realized that we all want the same thing in Africa Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? What is left on my bucket list is to create a label like Stonesthrow or TDE that focuses on niche artists that do not need to compromise the music for the sake of global commercial success.
