About Olamide
Nigerian rapper Olamide has become a global ambassador of his country's music. • Born in Lagos State, Nigeria, Olamide attended Tai Solarin University of Education. He was forced to drop out when his parents couldn’t manage his tuition. • In 2011, Olamide released his debut album Rapsodi, which earned a Best Rap Album nomination at the Nigerian awards show The Headies. • Olamide won Album of the Year at The Headies with three consecutive LPs: 2012’s YBNL, 2013’s Baddest Guy Ever Liveth and 2014’s Street OT. • He founded the record label Yahoo Boy No Laptop Nation (or YBNL) in 2012. The roster includes fellow Nigerian artists DJ Enimoney, Fireboy DML, B.Banks and Temmie Ovwasa. • Olamide primarily raps in Yoruba, a language spoken in West Africa. His rapid flow has helped to popularize hip-hop in Nigeria.
