About Haven

The roots of this UK indie rock band can be traced to a chance meeting between singer Gary Briggs (b. Cornwall, England) and guitarist Nat Watson (b. Cornwall, England) in a record shop in their native Cornwall. Realising a shared passion for classic rock music, the duo began writing their own material with the help of Iwan Gronow (b. Cornwall, England; bass) and Tom Lewis (b. Cornwall, England; drums). After signing a recording contract with Radiate Records, the quartet relocated to Manchester in 1999 to work with former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr on material for their debut album. The 'Til The End EP and "Beautiful Thing" and "Let It Live" singles created a small media buzz around the band in 2001, with many looking to Haven as the next potential indie rock crossover band to follow in the footsteps of Travis, Coldplay and Starsailor. Between The Senses, a highly competent traditional rock album, was released to a surprisingly muted reception the following February, although singles released subsequently did chart in the UK. A second album, All For A Reason, was released with little fanfare in early 2004
