Not to be confused with the actress Tsai Chin, Taiwanese singer Tsai Chin is an enduring voice in folk music and early 20th century Chinese songs. She is loved for her warm, velvety mezzo timbre, slightly roughed up by a throaty rasp, which gives the music she sings a smoky, jazzy, timeless feel. She made her name in 1979 with "Just Like Your Tenderness", which was covered by Taiwan's legendary songstress Teresa Teng in 1981.
