The Brian Jonestown Massacre: Influences

The Brian Jonestown Massacre: Influences

The Brian Jonestown Massacre's patron saint is right there in the first half of the band's name: Brian Jones, the most psychedelic of Stones. But the second part reveals Anton Newcombe's fascination with the darker sides of the hippie dream, as exemplified by the madcap serenades of Syd Barrett or the pop-star delusions of Charles Manson. And through ‘80s droners Spacemen 3, he developed a taste for narcotic noise and revolutionary rhetoric.
