Photek Essentials

Rupert Parkes made his name in the mid '90s as one of the drum 'n' bass scene's most inventive talents. Recording under an array of aliases for labels like Metalheadz and Certificate 18, Parkes—best known as Photek—pioneered a style distinguished by razor-sharp percussion and cinematic atmospherics. After collecting his best singles on the instant-classic albums Modus Operandi and Form & Function, he took a hard left into deep house and Detroit techno with 2000's Solaris. In the '10s, he moved to L.A., discovered dubstep and began scoring films.
