Dedrick “Mack 10” Rolison is at his best when mean-mugging on hard G-funk tracks like “On Them Thangs”. But he can be warm and gregarious on, for example, the cookout jam “Backyard Boogie” and “Tight To Def”, a duet with then-wife Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins of TLC. After recording posse cut “Westside Slaughterhouse” with Ice Cube and WC, he joined the pair under the name Westside Connection for the album Bow Down. Mack 10 remained faithful to his Cali gangsta rap sound even after signing to New Orleans' Cash Money Records for 2001's Bang or Ball.
