Los Hermanos Zuleta Essentials

Classic Colombian vallenato is an oral tradition, and singer Poncho Zuleta and his accordionist brother Emiliano have been telling stories through the sound since 1970. Accompanied by a caja drum and guacharaca scraper, Poncho describes the "Tierra de Cantores" (Land of Singers) where "the accordions know how to cry and laugh", as his sibling demonstrates precisely that. Poncho waxes autobiographical in "Mi Hermano y Yo" (My Brother and I), a bittersweet song about the brothers' ambivalent relationship, and takes a synth-augmented sentimental journey to "Mi Pueblo Natal" (My Hometown).
