Kathy Mattea Essentials

Kathy Mattea began her musical career in bluegrass, moving to Nashville from her native West Virginia in 1978. She signed her first deal in 1983 and developed a sound that combined elements of bluegrass, folk and traditional country. Her heyday was the mid '80s to the mid '90s, when she scored a slew of No. 1 and Top 10 hits, racked up a string of gold albums and earned two GRAMMY® awards. The new millennium saw Mattea return to her roots and her albums accordingly began to pop up at the top of the bluegrass charts.
