Japanese classical-guitar prodigy Kaori Muraji is an international phenomenon who’s refused to let her impeccable technique eclipse a devotion to melodic beauty that transcends genre. After cementing her classical bona fides in the '90s, Muraji has demonstrated a mastery of many styles, whether baroque or romantic; she has just as much facility with a delicate transcription of Satie’s “Gymnopédie No. 1” as she does with film themes by Ennio Morricone. Muraji has also interpreted a wide range of modern music including American pop standards, songs by The Beatles and the Bee Gees, and Eric Clapton’s “Tears in Heaven”.
