Etienne de Crécy Essentials

Without Etienne de Crécy, there would be no French touch. A year before Daft Punk released their first single, de Crécy's duo Motorbass (with Philippe Zdar) were laying the groundwork for the filter-disco craze and in 1996, the same year as Homework, he unveiled Super Discount, a Warholian concept album featuring Air, Alex Gopher and some seriously groovy easy-listening. His 2000 album Tempovision extended his sample-heavy approach to even deeper house and downtempo. Since then, across live albums, club remixes and further Super Discounts, he's remained a pop provocateur par excellence.
