Hong Kong actor Deep Ng's musical debut took the form of strummy acoustic-rock balladry. But, like the great C-pop artists to which he's been compared (Eason Chan and Nicholas Tse among them), he has a command of many disparate genres. Whether it's a jazz-rap hybrid, a funky take on R&B or a delicate waltz-time serenade, his plaintive, passionate voice draws out the essential emotion from each song. And, as a further display of his versatility, he also fronts the HK rock band Closer.
