Daniel Harding Essentials

It takes a true master to fully locate the playfulness in Mahler, the gravity in Berlioz and the manic tempestuousness in Haydn, but Oxford-born conductor Daniel Harding always seems to be up for the challenge. His Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor opuses with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra are full of pathos and light. Taking up Mozart’s Don Giovanni, K. 527: Overtura with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, he brings out not only the composer’s thunderous drama, but also his dark pensiveness. Equally roaring (and magnificently pastoral) is his delivery of Brahms’ Symphony No. 3. in F Major.
