Carlinhos Brown crafts a thrilling brand of Latin fusion by marrying the avant-garde Tropicália movement from '60s Brazil with the reggae, jazz and percussion styles of modern global pop. As a co-founder of Timbalada in the '90s, then later as a solo artist, Brown mixes tracks with a high-energy, syncopated percussion backbone, a gesture to his long-standing passion for samba, while bending brass fanfare and jumping guitar riffs. He's capable of many moods, often within the same song: one of his tracks, "Crendice" even makes room for funky Auto-Tune.
