Cab Calloway Essentials

Cab Calloway Essentials

Cab Calloway spent his career breaking down racial boundaries through his music. With his landmark performances at the legendary Cotton Club in Harlem, Calloway introduced America to swing and jazz via the NBC station's weekly live broadcasts from the establishment. He popularised scatting—a rhythmic singing style that would become one of his trademarks—after learning the technique from Louis Armstrong. Calloway's music and dancing styles even directly inspired popular cartoons of the time like Betty Boop and Porky Pig.
