Since 1994, Boss AC has been pushing hip-hop tuga forward. He draws on a range of influences that start with his mother, Ana Firmino, who is a Cape Verdean morna singer. The social-justice-themed rap of artists like Gabriel o Pensador, Talib Kweli and Fugees inspired his lyrics, while the creativity of pop artists like Michael Jackson feed directly into the melodic delivery of his nuanced sound.
