Booker Little Essentials

Booker Little Essentials

Despite his untimely death in 1961 at age 23, trumpeter Booker Little's four years on the jazz scene left behind a dazzling legacy. His melodically supple lines and rich, full-bodied tone bridged ‘50s hard-bop with exploratory, introspective impulses of the early ‘60s. He balances lyric refinement and speed alongside drummer Max Roach on “Milestones”, transmits radiantly tuneful opulence on balladry like “If I Should Lose You” and delivers moody reflection within the chamber-like beauty of “Strength and Sanity”.
