Antonio Vega: Influences

This introspective rocker anchored the post-Franco Madrid Scene during the '70s and drew from a virtual European Union of sources. Punk and New Wave were in the air, and his band Nacha Pop combined the pure pop of The Beatles with the New Wave attitude of Elvis Costello. During his post-Nacha solo career, Vega drew upon Europop predecessors from Italy, Catalan and elsewhere, adding his vulnerable melancholy to their continental polish.
