Turbo Fruits

A garage/stoner-rock branch of the Nashville indie-punk group Be Your Own Pet, Turbo Fruits features that band’s Jonas Stein (guitar and vocals) and John Eatherley (drums). Drawing liberally from various hard-charging late-1960s/early-‘70s acts, the trio, rounded out by bassist Max Peebles, excels at unabashedly raucous tunes (check out the swaggering shout-along, “Volcano”), as heard on its self-titled 2007 debut. While the band’s cheeky, retro-minded sound won’t appeal to more progressive-minded indie-rock fans, Turbo Fruits carry undeniable appeal in their loose, no-frills approach.
