About Presss

With a sultry voice and a flair for sentimental romantic ballads, Presss has established himself as one of South Africa’s most prolific singer/songwriters of the 21st century. Specializing in adult contemporary R&B and Afrosoul, Presss—born Vusani Preston Sihlangu in Theunissen in 1978—first emerged in 2002 as a member of 101, the group which won the inaugural season of the singing competition show Coca Cola Popstars. After 101 separated, Presss launched his solo career by releasing his debut From 101, followed by the kwaito-tinged Presss Play in 2006 and 2008’s Young, Gifted And Black ‎through Arthur Mafokate’s 999 Music. He self-produced his 2014 record Black, which showcased a more mature style and ultimately yielded the hits “Thojana Ya Thesele” and “Chasing A Rainbow”. On 2019’s Throne and 2021’s XO - Part 1 & 2, the crooner employed his soulful melodies over modern sounds in Afropop and hip-hop.
