About P.M. Dawn
The early '90s was an exciting time of experimentation for hip-hop artists, and the perfect Zeitgeist for an act like Jersey City's P.M. Dawn (brothers Prince Be and J.C.), who wove dreamy garlands of sound into an ethereal, Christian-themed style all their own, centered on philosophical lyrics and trippy, outside-the-box samples. Their crossover success came with the single "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss," which went to number one on the U.S. pop charts in 1991, and established them as a stars. Subsequent albums were lauded critically and did well commercially, but, as they quietly continued through the new millennium, they yielded the spotlight to the next generation of hip-hop artists. ~ Paula Carino
