About Jackson Wooten

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was super young, I remember sneaking into my parent’s bedrooms to steal my mom’s Sony Walkman to play one song - “Who Let the Dogs Out” by Baha Men. I blasted that song on repeat for hours. It’s a freaking banger. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bon Iver, Bon Iver Gregory Alan Isakov, The Weatherman Noah & The Whale, The First Days of Spring First Days of Spring is a folk pop masterpiece. The Weatherman is a gorgeous album, and is written with incredible authenticity. This Bon Iver album is so freaking good that I have to be careful putting it on - it might put me in a mood. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Flower” This song still makes me uncomfortable. Its meaning has grown and changed over the years - from a love letter, to a song about heartbreak and yearning. Every moment was looked at with incredible scrutiny and I’m really proud of the end result. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In 2021 I was nominated for a Libera Award for Best Self-Released Record. It was honestly surreal. To be nominated among the likes of Japanese Breakfast, José Gonzáles, Jason Isbell, Cautious Clay, and Sturgill Simpson was seriously insane. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Performing at the Ryman and Bonnaroo are huge goals for me - things I’ve dreamed about for years. Both are places I’ve gone to since being a child - places that have changed my life.
