Hungry Cloud Darkening

Northwestern haunted indie trio Hungry Cloud Darkening got their start when the group's multi-instrumentalist members/co-songwriters, Allyson Foster, Paul Benson, and Nicholas Wilbur, relocated from their homes in Nixa, Missouri and Mountain Home, Arkansas to the vibrant musical community of Anacortes, Washington in 2008. Around the beginning of the 2010s, the trio started working on a collaborative, analog-only recording project that mirrored both the reclusive mysteriousness of fellow Anacortes indie act Mount Eerie (for whom all three Hungry Cloud Darkening members would put in time as touring musicians) and the more pop-minded sounds of obtuse bands like Broadcast and Blonde Redhead. Intensive collaborative recording and composing sessions first resulted in 2011's full-length debut Dark Cloud at Water, followed in 2014 by sophomore effort Glossy Recall. ~ Fred Thomas
