About Cecilia Barraza

Cecilia Barraza's career began after winning a contest called Trampolin A La Fama (springboard to stardom) in 1969. Performing a style known as Costeño, which originated in black Peruvian communities, she combines Afro-Peruvian and popular music. In addition, to consolidate her name in the local folk scene, Cecilia Barraza participated in a threesome called El Clan Barraza, singing along with her brothers Carlos and Miguel. ~ Drago Bonacich
