Ian Kelly: Influences

Ian Kelly's melodic and intricate folk music finds its inspirations in the classic rock and soft pop of yesteryear. In Kelly's delicate and nimble vocals you can hear the likes of Paul Simon's shuffling “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” or Jeff Buckley's transcendent “Last Goodbye”. He can be as raw as Springsteen on “The Ghost of Tom Joad”, but then he goes ahead and forges sweeping atmospherics like those found on Daniel Lanois' “The Messenger”.
