Eliana Murargy: Africa Month

To celebrate the many wonderful aspects of the continent, we asked a group of visionary musicians and creative minds to define what Africa means to them. “Africa is our heartbeat,” Mozambican fashion designer Eliana Murargy tells Apple Music. “I grew up surrounded by African rhythms. As I travel the world, I get to hear many other rhythms but hearing our songs in far away places is always a unique sensation. I am so proud of how widely our music is heard and most importantly felt. That’s what music is about: sharing our experiences, building connections beyond language or geography and creating a shared memory.” Here, Murargy assembles a cross-generational cardiogram of hits, featuring work from DRP, Runtown, P-Square, Fela Kuti, CKay and more. “I hope that while listening to these African pioneers from different generations you will feel Africa’s heartbeat and mine.”
