Born in London and raised, partially, in Ghana, Afrobeats newcomer Fuse ODG broke through in 2013 with “Antenna”, a dance-pop smash with a distinctly West African rhythmic flex. It peaked at no. 7 in the UK singles chart and tapped into the growing appetite for pop through an African filter. Scoring Best African Act at the 2013 MOBOs, his follow-up, “Million Pound Girl (Badder Than Bad)” was an even bigger success and paved the way for a collaboration with Sean Paul, guaranteeing his global profile. Perhaps Fuse said it best with the name of his debut album, TINA—This Is the New Africa.
