Ekhymosis Essentials

Formed in the late ‘80s by the charismatic Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez, aka Juanes, Latin rock maestros Ekhymosis draw on their native Colombian roots, as well as U.S. and Brit-rock influences, to craft their dynamic sound. Spanning thrash metal and acoustic ballads, Juanes' songwriting is always poignant and hits like “Solo”, “Sin Rencores” and “De Madrugada” brought the group national renown. In 1998 they won 3 Shock Awards for the song “La Tierra” which is known by fans as the “second Colombian anthem”. Our playlist explores the work of a band that was instrumental in shaping Latin rock's identity.
