About Willis Earl Beal

Chicago singer/songwriter Willis Earl Beal began his foray into the music business by busking in train stations. In 2009, Found Magazine published an interview with him. Reader response was so strong to his open-hearted and quirky personality that in 2011, Found released a limited-edition CD that collected some home recordings. Still living at his grandmother's house, Beal began playing proper gigs around town. His songs cut a wide swath from confessional gospel confessional to noisey ballads to barroom blues, all characterized by his booming, unmistakable voice. He moved to New York, to record Acousmatic Sorcery for XL's Hot Charity Records, then relocated to the Pacific Northwest where he self released Experiments In Time. 2015's Noctunes appeared from Tender Loving Empire. ~ Fred Thomas
