About T. V. Sankaranarayanan
The nephew and pupil of Madurai Mani Iyer, T. V. Sankaranarayanan was born in 1945 in Mayiladutarai in the Tanjavur district. His concert debut at the age of 23 in February 1968 came relatively late in life for a classical vocalist. He had intended to pursue a legal career before the Muse gripped him -- the Bar's loss and music lovers' gain. Sankaranarayanan died on September 2, 2022 at the age of 77. ~ Ken Hunt
