TikTok sensation Will Linley felt a little nostalgic about reworking two of his favourite songs—“Tough (The Girls Song)” and “Last Call”—for his Apple Home Sessions EP. “I love reimagining songs in an acoustic style,” the South Africa-born singer-songwriter tells Apple Music. “You really get to the bones of the songs, the way they were written. It takes me straight back to the room they were first created in. It’s an incredibly special feeling.” Stripping out the classic, ’80s-inspired rock tones of his original works, Linley adds atmospheric piano to “Tough” and boosts the chorus of “Last Call” with rousing vocal harmonies, showcasing a different facet of his developing artistry. “I am learning it’s OK to push the boundaries a little bit, not sticking in one lane. You’ll see that with the music I’ll be releasing next,” promises Linley. He also puts his own spin on the Frankie Valli hit “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”, transforming the 1967 classic into a joyous sing-along, supported by just an acoustic guitar. “It’s my go-to cover, it’s so unique. No one has done anything close to something like it since,” says Linley. “It’s fun, infectious and a huge vibe—what’s not to love?”
