Sleep Waves

Sleep Waves

In the late '60s, a freeform San Francisco radio station played one of the first albums of ocean sounds (Environments 1) for two straight weeks during a strike. Rolling waves, trickling streams, the steady lifeblood of Mother Earth—nothing soothes quite like water. Whether you’re in a big city, landlocked or just want to bring the sound a little closer to your ear, here’s a playlist of water recordings designed to help calm you down and drift off to sleep. Our editors do move things around now and then, so if you hear something you like, add it to your library. Then turn off, relax and float downstream.
