There’s a soulful interplay between perfection and imperfection in We Are Messengers. Since the release of the project’s debut in 2016, Irish singer/songwriter Darren Mulligan has crafted some of the most flawless pop-rock in all of contemporary Christian music. Hits such as “Everything Comes Alive” and “Image of God” feel as if they actually glow with the Lord’s love. At the same time, Mulligan pens lyrics that are disarmingly truthful about his own failures. Perhaps no song better sums up the artist’s outlook than “Maybe It’s Ok”, particularly this line: “Maybe it’s OK if I’m not OK/’Cause the one who holds the world is holding onto me.”
