Warren G.'s productions take their cues from ‘70s and ‘80s R&B and smooth jazz. He doesn't just provide a beat, but a cushion into which a rapper can recline. His style is one of the canonical templates of West Coast hip-hop, but despite his loyalty to L.A. his glassy beats have attracted Bay Area emcees and even a few from New York. Few can resist that glimmering California sheen.
