Klaus Waldeck's music runs slow, dark and deep, ploughing the more upbeat side of trip-hop, with an occasional romantic swish into lovers rock. It's a fathomless, bass-driven sound—the swoony international hit “Aquarius” is all bass, voice and echoes—straight from the electronic heart of Vienna's Spray Records. Occasionally Waldeck ventures beyond instrumental numbers to forge a torch song showcase for the voices of his fellow Austrian zeebee, Joy Malcolm (of British soul band Incognito) and Brian Amos. Waldeck's is a highly melodic and immersive groove.
